Sturm warning in Mainz: Fire brigade is preparing for storms!

A dramatic weather service warning shot for western Germany! On Saturday afternoon, May 31, 2025, the German Weather Service published a severe weather warning of level 3 for the Mainz region and surrounding counties. In order to be prepared for the upcoming storms, voting talks between the fire brigade leaders of Mainz and the fire and disaster protection inspectors of the districts of Alzey-Worms, Bad Kreuznach and Mainz-Bingen were conducted in the morning.

The storm operation of the integrated control center Mainz was activated at around 4:00 p.m., which alerts additional staff to reinforce. Between 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. there were alarms from the fire brigades: in Mainz once, three times in Alzey-Worms, in Bad Kreuznach seven times and four times in Mainz-Bingen. Fortunately, according to the DWD meteorologist on duty, the situation relaxed at around 5:15 p.m., and the measures were lifted again at 5:45 p.m. A dangerous afternoon that came out with a relieved end!
