House explosion in Bretthausen: High damage to property, happiness in misfortune!

On Saturday morning, May 31, 2025, a residential building on Brunnenstrasse in Bretthausen turned into an inferno! At 7:02 a.m., the Westerburg police were informed about a violent explosion. When the emergency services arrived, the entire building, including the adjacent workshop, was on fire. Firefighters from Westerburg, Hachenburg and Montabaur hurried on the spot and were just able to prevent the flames from spreading to neighboring houses.

Despite the quick intervention, some neighboring buildings were damaged by the scream flying around. Fortunately, no injuries have so far been reported! The property damage amounts to several hundred thousand euros. The extinguishing work has now ended, but the authorities continue to determine the cause of the fire. The DRK rescue workers and a rescue helicopter were also used, which brought the situation under control together with a large contingent of the fire brigade.
