Karl Dedecius' Lebenswerk
DEDECIUS grew up in Łódź and had moved into war and captivity during the German occupation of Poland. After his release, he was involved in the translation of Polish literature and significantly built bridges between the two cultures. The Dedecius Foundation on the Viadrina, which was founded in 2013, provides its literary heritage and supports the cultural exchange between Germany and Poland. As part of this foundation, the "Karl Dedecius Prize for German-Polish translator" is also awarded.
The study trip to Łódź is therefore not only an opportunity for individuals to get to know the culture and history of Poland better, but also help to keep the legacy of Karl Dedecius alive and to promote German-Polish relations.
