Panorama path at Kriegsfeld: Nature experience for the whole Palatinate!
In the picturesque Donnersberg district, the panorama path at Kriegsfeld is developed as a new destination. With a height of 305 meters, this path offers an impressive view and is intended to attract tourists from all over the Palatinate. Organization chief Angi Brabänder and Helmut Mandler, the chairman of the history and home association, actively get involved in the redesign of the path. The municipality has launched a comprehensive tourism offensive to increase the awareness of the panoramic path. The aim is to win more visitors and thus also promote the local economy.
A new attraction has recently been added: an artistically carved wooden stand that represents an owl. This stands in the middle of the natural environment of the forest and symbolizes wisdom and closeness to nature. The artists Pascal Marx, René Sojak and Helmut Mandler, who are also members of the history and home association, worked on the artwork. The motto of the association "We all live it" reflects the commitment to protect the forests and the preservation of the domestic wildlife.
sustainable tourism development
The panoramic path and its attractions fit into the broader strategy for sustainable tourism development in Rhineland-Palatinate. The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture commissioned the Mascontour GmbH bidding community and the Center for Sustainable Tourism (Zenat) to create concepts that aim at an environmentally friendly and resilient tourism industry. This strategy is particularly relevant because the tourism industry in the region was severely affected by the consequences of Corona pandemic and the flood disaster in the Ahr Valley and parts of the Eifel.
A central aspect of the new tourism strategy is to strengthen the resilience of the sector towards future crises. The topic here include climate protection, shortage of skilled workers and the expectations of visitors to sustainable offers. An online survey should provide information about the opinions on sustainable tourism development and help to develop targeted fields of action.
The panoramic path at Kriegsfeld is therefore not only an attractive goal for hikers and nature lovers, but also contributes to the long-term strategy of sustainable development in Rhineland-Palatinate. With the new wood artwork and the associated promotion of regional nature, the history and home association would like to achieve a conscious perception of the diverse cultural landscape.
