Access on the Rhine: freight ship to salvage on the sandbar!

Bingen, Deutschland - This morning a dramatic ship accident occurred on the Rhine kilometer 523! A 185 -meter -long freight thrust association, loaded with impressive 2870 tons of hard coal, has lost control during a routine control by the Mainz water protection police. The port -on -side coupling wire initially tore, which led to a dangerous kink of the anterior freight sheep blanker. Shortly thereafter, the bug of the sheep bleacher crashed against the taxboard side of the pushing goods motor ship.

The freight sheaf was ultimately stuck on a gravel reason, far from the fairway, while the sliding ship was able to fix safely on the sheet piling of the Geisenheim loading point. Fortunately, there were no personal injury because the crew was not near the coupling points. According to initial assessments, there could be a slight water ingress in the freight soiler. The salvage is planned for June 6, 2025, and it remains to be asked whether it will be done by a preload service or a partial discharge. The Mainz Water Protection Police has started the investigation into the cause of the accident.
