Rodgauer Welt -Theater brings Krabat - magical performances in November!
The Rodgauer Weltheater team is preparing for an elaborate staging of Otfried Preußler's “Krabat”, which will be performed in the community center in November 2025. Under the direction of director Bettina Hartmann, rehearsals have recently started and are part of a five -month intensive training. This staging also offers a platform for offspring.
"Krabat" tells the gripping story of a magician maker and his journeyman, which are seduced into the black magic. The work, which Preussler published in 1971, deals with central topics such as seduction, group dynamics and addiction. It is based on the Sorbian legendary world and is a profound examination of human nature and power that reflects Preussler's own traumatizing experiences. He gained this experience in two years of captivity that impressively reflect the horrors and the collapse of communities, as they are also shown in "Krabat".
musical accompaniment and stage design
It is remarkable that the music for the staging comes from the Frankfurt Gothic band ASP. This musical background is expected to ensure a special atmosphere in combination with a redesigned community center hall. In order to meet the requirements of the staging, a special grandstand stage is set up that enables the audience a more intensive experience. The performances are planned for November 21 and 22, 2025, and the pre -sale for the tickets is scheduled to begin at the end of July 2025. The backdrop and the overall dramaturgy promise to kidnap the viewer deep into the dark but fascinating world of "Krabat".
The author behind "Krabat"
Otfried Preußler, who was born in 1923 and died in 2013, is considered one of the most successful German-language children's and youth book authors and published more than 50 million copies of his works. "Krabat" was the result of more than ten years of hard work, in which Preussler was able to take up the essential topics that shaped him as a writer. These comprise values such as courage and resistance to totalitarian systems that swing in the stories of the “Krabat” apprentices. An elementary part of his letter was also the examination of one's own childhood, the war experiences and their processing through stories.
In later years, literary scholar Carsten Gansel researched the biographical background of Preussler's life and his works. These findings gave new insights into the deep psychological aspects of the stories and their origin. Gansel's research was published in the publication "Child of a difficult time. The staging of "Krabat" in Rodgau promises an impressive performance of a classic in children's literature for both connoisseurs and new listeners. It remains to be seen how the actors and the creative team will bring the profound topics and the fantastic story on stage. The connection of Preussler's work with modern music and theater technology already indicates that this could become a special cultural event.
