Fire in Badeleben: Family temporarily housed with neighbors!

On June 15, 2025, there were several incidents in and around Haldensleben that kept the local police on tenterhooks. A fire in a single-family home in Badeleben caused a significant stir, while other events, including drunk driving and traffic violations, also made headlines.

The fire department was called in the afternoon to a house fire that broke out in the living room of a single-family home at around 2:57 p.m. The flames quickly spread to two other rooms. According to the investigation, which does not rule out a technical breakdown as a possible cause of the fire, the house is now uninhabitable and the affected family has been temporarily accommodated with neighbors. The estimated material damage is around 100,000 euros. Police investigations to determine the cause of the fire are already underway [Saxony-Anhalt](https://www.sachsen-anhalt.de/bs/pressemitigungen/polizei?tx_tsarssinclude_pi1%5Baction%5D=single& tx_tsarssinclude_pi1%5Bcontroller%5D=Base&tx_tsarssinclude_pi1%5Buid%5D=577666&cHash=b24722b8e192e73b1652e515a443898b) reported.

Drink driving

Another incident occurred in the evening when a 44-year-old man drunkenly tried to get into his Opel in Haldensleben. The police arrested him at his home address in Dahlenwarsleben, where he gave contradictory information about his alcohol consumption. As a result, a blood sample was ordered and his driver's license was confiscated. The investigation into drunk driving has already been initiated. According to Ask a Lawyer, driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 1.1 per mille or more is considered to be completely unfit to drive and can be punished with severe penalties of up to one year in prison or hefty fines.

The charges are particularly explosive for drivers who are driving without a license - this is also a punishable offense. According to legal regulations, driving without a license can result in a prison sentence or a fine.

Traffic stops and e-scooter incidents

Another unusual feature was the check of a 30-year-old driver in Seehausen. It was discovered here that the owner of the vehicle had been wanted since September in order to enforce a driving ban. Here too, the driver's license was confiscated and further driving was prohibited.

There was also Spanish confusion with an 11-year-old boy in Oebisfelde who was riding an e-scooter without an insurance license plate. The boy admitted that he had no insurance coverage. His mother was not informed that her son had left the property. According to the Small Electric Vehicles Ordinance, driving an e-scooter is only permitted from the age of 14 - parents face a fine if they let their children under the age of 14 drive in traffic, as KFZ-Versicherungsvergleich explains.

E-scooter drivers have a blood alcohol limit of 0.5, which is similar to motorized vehicles. Anyone who does not adhere to the rules must expect severe penalties.

Overall, it is clear that the police were also called upon last weekend and that the road safety situation is being taken seriously. Citizens are well advised to adhere to the applicable laws to avoid falling into the clutches of law enforcement themselves.
