HSG Göttingen defends beach handball title in Cuxhaven with flying colors!

In a rousing final, the HSG Göttingen beach handball players once again demonstrated their dominance and defended the title as part of the Handball Association Lower Saxony-Bremen (HVNB). This year's tournament took place in the lively Sparkassen Beachharena in Cuxhaven, where the Göttingen women were able to assert themselves 2-1 in the shootout at the crucial moment against the Börde Adler. In front of numerous spectators, including many family members, the players showed that they can get out not only sporty, but also in the team spirit. "It was a revenge for the defeat in the hall for us," emphasized team spokeswoman Franziska Crapanzano after the exciting final that went into shootout after a 1-1 point situation.

In the group phase, the Göttingen people trumped up by making all five games victorious. Her opponents in this phase were the Börde Adler, Beach Panthers, Sandy Slayers, Vinngirls and Berritas. Already in the quarter -finals they gave the Red White Dynamites from HSG Delmenhorst no chance and prevailed 2-0. Also in the semifinals, the team was strongly showing its strength and clearly defeated the DTB Chicks from the Elsflether TB 2-0. In view of the consistently positive weather forecast with just a short shower, the players were able to combine sports and leisure and enjoy the stay in Cuxhaven.

The HVNB beach handball tournament attracted numerous teams from the senior and A youth area last weekend. The atmosphere on the edge of the field was simply terrific, and the rousing rallies and spectacular throws caused an exuberant atmosphere. In addition to the women, of course, men's teams also competed in the A and B Cup as well as the male and female A-youth. The Skinny Beaches and the polar bears from Bremen dominated here in the men's competitions. The A-youth also showed exciting games with teams such as the Sierra Sombreros and the Black Swans.

The German championship in beach handball, the highlight of the national scene, stands at the corner and also takes place in Cuxhaven, from July 25th to 27th. The ten best beach handball teams in Germany compete here, which have qualified through the German Beach Open. Cuxhaven has again established itself as a venue since 2022 and will continue to see continuous participation of spectators and sports enthusiasts in the future. Volunteers are urgently sought to support the challenging event logistics, be it in the organization, in the judge or scouting.

The energy and enthusiasm of the players once again prove that beach handball in Germany and especially in Cuxhaven is very popular. It is only to be hoped that the HSG Göttingen can also keep their shape at the upcoming championships - the fans definitely keep their fingers crossed!
