New training center for emergency paramedics opened in Wanzleben!
Something exciting is happening in Wanzleben: The Börde emergency rescue service is planning to build a state-of-the-art training center for aspiring emergency paramedics. This was officially announced today and the Medical Training Center (MTC) is scheduled to be completed by fall 2026. The conversion of a former car dealership costs around 250,000 euros and promises realistic training that offers simulations of emergency situations in simulated bathrooms, living rooms and vehicles, reports MDR.
A real highlight will be the use of cameras to evaluate the exercises in detail. Claus Günther, managing director of the Börde emergency rescue service, is optimistic and assumes that training can be significantly improved. The initiative arose primarily out of necessity, as many other schools do not offer the desired level.
Training to become an emergency paramedic
Training to become an emergency paramedic is not only promising, but also structured and demanding. It lasts three years and combines theoretical and practical lessons, supplemented by practical training in training rescue stations and suitable hospitals. Those in need are getting access more and more quickly thanks to the precise deployment of emergency paramedics, who are legally obliged to reach any location in Germany within a maximum of twelve minutes. This explains Börde district.
During their training, future emergency paramedics will be able to assess the state of health of patients, carry out life-saving measures and support communication with other professional groups. The final examination is state-run and ensures graduates are guaranteed a job if they successfully complete it, which makes the training particularly attractive.
Insights into the profession
Emergency paramedics have the highest non-medical qualifications in the emergency services. A lot has happened since the training was introduced in 2014 and expectations are high. During the three-year training, for example to become an emergency paramedic, participants are prepared for various scenarios - from the entrance to an operation to initial medical care, from patient transport to communication with emergency doctors and clinics. These skills are now more in demand than ever, as well training.de confirmed.
An important point is preparation for everyday work. Emergency paramedics are not only in the front row for acute operations, but are also responsible for documenting the operation and disinfecting their equipment. Working hours are shift work and also include weekend work, which is a particular challenge for many.
The future in sight
Caydi Samantha Richter, who is in her first year of training to become an emergency paramedic, is already part of this up-and-coming training program. She is taking part in theoretical classes in the MTC's first completed training room and is looking forward to the practical experiences that await her there. The Börde emergency rescue team employs around 50 people at four locations in the district, and the need for well-trained specialists remains high.
With job vacancies and training opportunities tight, one thing is clear: the future looks promising for emergency paramedics, and the new opportunities the training center will offer are a step in the right direction.
