Closure of the A2 near Eilsleben: truck accident and resin chaos!
There have been several incidents on Autobahn 2 in the last few days that led to extensive closures. The route in the Börde district between Eilsleben and Irxleben is currently closed after a truck driver lost liquid synthetic resin on Wednesday evening. According to MDR, the right lane was affected by the substance over a distance of 15 kilometers, which stuck to the road and dried there. The exact cause of the container leak and the driver's delayed awareness are still unclear. In order to clear the road, a closure in the direction of Berlin was necessary, which is expected to last for several hours, until at least noon, according to the police.
Another part of Autobahn 2 between Alleringersleben and Eilsleben was reopened on Wednesday afternoon after being closed for hours. This closure was the result of a previous accident involving a dangerous goods transporter carrying several canisters of formic acid. This accident occurred on Tuesday, July 9th and the driver of the van suffered life-threatening injuries when he crashed into a stationary traffic jam without braking. The incident occurred at a large construction site and resulted in extensive rescue work that shut down the highway for two and a half hours. As n-tv reported, the fire department set up a 15-meter exclusion circle around the accident site, and fortunately no risk of explosion was identified. The environmental agency was notified.
Traffic accidents and their effects
The repeated incidents on Autobahn 2 shed light on the safety situation in road traffic. The Statistical Office emphasizes that the collection of detailed accident data is crucial in order to take measures in legislation, traffic education as well as in road construction and vehicle technology. Accidents, such as the recent one on the A2, require quick action and comprehensive analysis to prevent future incidents and increase road safety.
It remains to be hoped that the cleaning work on the A2 will progress quickly and the closures can be lifted soon. Until then, drivers should exercise caution and consider alternative routes.
