Cancer activist Myriam: From the dream in California to the nightmare!
Myriam of M. (47), a cancer activist from Germany, faces the USA after her dramatic emigration to the USA. Born in German, cervical cancer has been fighting and recently received the diagnosis of Lupus. Despite her health challenges, as a trained hairdresser and naturopath, she founded a foundation, wrote a book and processed her experiences in songs that have led to success as a singer. In order to start a new life in the USA with her son Gabriel, who is 14 years old, she invested 15,000 euros in an artist visa for her new beginning in Colfax, California.
Myriam fell in love with the American Bradley "Brad" Nedderhoed (40) during a vacation. Nevertheless, the move turned out to be much more difficult than she expected. Your doctor, Dr. Martin von Berg, only hesitantly gave the green light for the move, since Myriam's state of health remained uncertain and she had no doctors in the USA. Brad, a dry alcoholic, fought with his withdrawal again and fell back into old patterns shortly after Myriam's arrival.

Myriam reported an incident in which Brad became violent, which she put in a desperate situation. Despite a first harmonious meeting with a VOX team, there were quickly problems due to Brad's custody disputes that led to his alcohol consumption. In a critical moment, Myriam Brad made an ultimatum: either he changes his behavior, or she separates from him. After a temporary separation, it seemed as if Brad would give up his alcohol abuse, but he finally returned to old habits.
In her despair, Myriam attended a self -help group for members of alcoholic people and began to emancipate themselves from Brad financially. To make ends meet, she earned some money on social media and jobbated as a cleaning lady. These challenges are added to her already burdened life situation, in which she often thinks about her life path and the changes she went through. The complexity of Myriam's situation reflects the reality of many cancer affected that experience emotions similar to fear, grief and anger. In order to receive support in times of crisis, those affected can fall back on numerous self -help groups. One of the largest organizations in Germany is the women's self -help Krebs e.V., which focuses particularly on breast cancer and gynecological cancer and offers extensive psychosocial support.
