Drunk accidents: Reckless driving – police on duty!

In Finneland, OT Marienroda, there was a traffic accident on Sunday evening that called emergency services to the scene. A car driver turned from the K2254 onto the L211 and drove off the road for reasons that are still unclear. This caused the vehicle to end up on its side in the ditch. The 79-year-old passenger was injured and had to be freed by the fire department before she could be taken to hospital with minor injuries. Fortunately, the driver and another passenger were uninjured. A breath alcohol test on the 61-year-old driver showed 1.04 per mille. Not only was he taken to the hospital to give a blood sample, but he also had to give up his driver's license. Criminal proceedings have been initiated, which, according to kanzleiwehner.de, can have both civil and criminal consequences.

What else kept the police in the region busy? Just a few hours after the accident, a 22-year-old driver was checked during a traffic stop in Balgstädt. The rapid drug test came back positive and he also had to go to the hospital to have a blood sample taken. He was forbidden to continue his journey. This shows that drug and alcohol tests are carried out by police officers to ensure road safety, and such tests can indicate legal problems, especially if you drive under the influence.

Fire damage in Zeitz

There was also a fire in Zeitz on Monday night, which attracted the attention of the fire department and police. A garbage can burned on Dr.-Lange-Straße, which caused material damage of around 1,000 euros, as the facade of an adjacent apartment building was also damaged. Luckily there were no injuries, but the cause of the fire is now being investigated by the police.

Traffic accident in Lützen

On Monday morning another accident happened in Lützen on Schloßstrasse. The driver of a van veered out of his lane and collided head-on with an oncoming van. In this collision, both vehicles were severely damaged and several airbags deployed. Here too, the fire brigade had to intervene to remove spilled operating materials from the road. Both drivers suffered minor injuries and were treated on an outpatient basis while Schloßstrasse was temporarily closed.

The incidents of the last few days clearly show how important responsible driving is. Traffic accidents, whether caused by alcohol or other circumstances, not only cause legal problems, such as the revocation of your driving license, but can also have serious consequences for everyone involved. According to the [polizei.sachsen-anhalt.de](https://polizei.sachsen-anhalt.de/das-sind-wir/presse/pi-halle-saale/burgenlandkreis?tx_tsarssinclude _pi1[action]=single&tx_tsarssinclude_pi1[controller]=Base&tx_tsarssinclude_pi1[uid]=610986&cHash=cd41770fac0db09139fd32d224cfa437) Road safety is of paramount importance to the community. It is therefore to be hoped that all road users can act responsibly and avoid accidents in the future. It is up to each individual to travel safely.
