Injured cyclist and theft: crime causes excitement!
An eventful day in the region made headlines on June 18, 2025, especially in Weißenfels and Naumburg, where various criminal incidents occurred. The police have their hands full to quickly solve the crimes and raise awareness among the population.
A traffic accident occurred in Weißenfels on Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. when a 33-year-old cyclist crossed the street on Klosterstrasse without paying attention to traffic that had the right of way. The cyclist's fall resulted in minor injuries, while the occupants of a car that hit the cyclist were fortunately uninjured. The damage to the vehicle was assessed by the police.
Burglary and theft in Naumburg
Just a few hours later, on Wednesday morning, a theft took place in Naumburg. Unknown perpetrators gained access to the business premises of a company on Jakobsring and stole a safe. The employee who noticed the theft immediately alerted the police. The estimated damage is around 1,200 euros.
On the same day, a particularly brazen shock call occurred in Hohenmölsen, affecting an 88-year-old woman. The callers claimed that their son had caused a serious accident and demanded a deposit of 40,000 euros. Fortunately, the woman contacted her son and learned that there had been no accident. The police have already started an investigation against the unknown perpetrators and are urgently warning against this scam.
Shock call warning
The Federal Criminal Police Office recently specifically warned against the “shock call” scam, which is becoming increasingly common. The perpetrators often pose as close relatives or representatives of authorities and try to put victims under pressure in order to extort large amounts of money. They exploit true fear by pretending that family members are involved in serious accidents. To prevent this, police recommend not giving out personal or financial information over the phone and instead contacting real family members directly at their known phone numbers. A caller from Fellbach was also the victim of an attempted robbery. An unknown man grabbed her from behind and tried to steal her purse. She screamed for help, whereupon the perpetrator ran away. These incidents highlight the need to be vigilant and report suspicious activity immediately.
Police are calling on all citizens to be vigilant and report any suspicious sightings to increase safety in our cities. In these turbulent times, it is more important than ever to stick together and look after each other.
