Chaos in Halle-Neustadt: confrontation and use of pepper spray!
In Halle-Neustadt, shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, there was a physical altercation in a bar on Hallorenstrasse. Two people got into an argument, which quickly spread to other people present. A 20-year-old picked up an animal repellent spray and sprayed it into the crowd. The necessary reaction from the police did not take long to arrive: a group of people fled, but one member was caught by the emergency services. The animal repellent spray was seized while the 20-year-old was behaving aggressively. Despite being sent off, the young man persisted and was ultimately taken into custody for several hours. Medical care on site was necessary because several people, including uninvolved guests, had to be cared for due to the situation. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries.
But what are the legal basis for the use of animal repellent spray? As anwalt-suchservice.de explains, pepper spray may only be used for self-defense. It is important that it is labeled as an animal repellent spray or has a PTB test mark in order to be used legally. The main ingredient, capsaicin, causes burning pain and shortness of breath on contact. Asthmatics and people with high blood pressure in particular need to be careful here. If used disproportionately, this can constitute dangerous bodily harm.
Traffic accidents and other incidents
In addition to the tumult in Halle-Neustadt, traffic accidents also caused some excitement. On the same Saturday there was an accident at 12:30 p.m. on Eislebener Chaussee when a car had to brake because of ducks and a vehicle behind it rear-ended. Fortunately, both drivers remained uninjured. Likewise on the B100, where at 9:30 p.m. three cars had to brake at a red light and another vehicle drove up, which also only caused property damage.
On Sunday night there was a fight in the Lortzingbogen, where the police encountered around 70 revelers. Despite loud arguments between four people, no physical altercation or injuries were found; the situation was resolved peacefully.
physical injuries and more
A different situation occurred on Friday evening on Friedemann-Bach-Platz. Here, a 39-year-old was hit in the face with a glass bottle by an unknown man, resulting in a cut and a visit to the hospital.
In addition, the emergency services reported an incident in Hettstedt, where a 38-year-old hit a 36-year-old and then used pepper spray. Five people had to be treated for eye irritation, while the perpetrator was taken to a specialist clinic.
In another incident in Querfurt, a garage fire was reported, the cause of which is still unknown. 41 firefighters were on site, with one firefighter developing health problems while carrying out his duty.
These events illustrate once again how quickly conflict can arise from everyday situations and the importance of polarizing the lawful use of spray agents. Stay alert and approach your confrontations carefully!
