In Dessau-Roßlau there is reason to be happy! On June 27, 2025, the new sports hall on Damaschkestraße was ceremoniously put into operation. Mayor Dr. Robert Reck symbolically presented the key to Torsten Ceglarek, board member of the Dessau-Roßlau City Sports Association, and Michael Teichert, headmaster of the Walter-Gropius-Gymnasium. A new chapter in the city's sporting infrastructure was inaugurated with a festive band average.

This new two-field sports hall, which was built directly on the school premises of the Walter Gropius Gymnasium, is the result of comprehensive planning, which was decided by the city council in September 2020. The implementation comprised necessary construction measures such as tree felling and groundwater lowering before the actual construction work could begin on June 26, 2023. An example of this is the PSV 90 Dessau-Anhalt e.V., which can proudly look back on two German championships and a total of 46 championship titles. Over 200 members are active in the floorball, including numerous students from the Walter Gropius-Gymnasium, who were already honored for their sporting performance at the opening.

The new sports hall is not only used for competitive sports, but also serves as a place for width and recreational sports as well as to improve school sports lessons. This makes it an important part of social life in Dessau-Roßlau and contributes to strengthening the sense of community.
