Challenge in the Harz: How Günther mastered the steep climb!

In the magical setting of the Harz Mountains there is a special story that expresses not only the beauty of the region, but also the unceasing human will. Carsten Kiehne, a passionate fairy tale collector from Bad Suderode, has been collecting legends, fairy tales and anecdotes from this legendary landscape for over a decade. Together with his partner Manuela Petri, he has already published more than thirty books and offers guided hikes to bring the mystical tales of the Harz Mountains to life. As news38.de reports, a particularly impressive hike to the old Paracelsus Harz Clinic took place on Tuesday, March 4th.

During this three-hour tour, Kiehne met Günther, an older man who was in an electric wheelchair and was determined to keep up despite the challenges and the steep climb. Kiehne initially had concerns about whether Günther would be able to complete the route. But the group actively helped him climb, which gave the shared adventure a very special touch. Once at the top, the smile on Günther's face was priceless - he called the hike the highlight of his hospital stay. Kiehne himself also described this experience as one of the most beautiful experiences of his 14-year career.

The Harz – a place of myths and nature

The Harz is not only known for its breathtaking landscapes, but also for its rich legends and myths. As n-ag.net points out, there are numerous stories in the Harz waiting to be discovered. Kiehne and his groups help ensure that these cultural treasures are not forgotten and make the Harz accessible to everyone - including people with special needs.

An excellent example of the connection between nature and myth is the nature myth trail near Braunlage. This path offers hikers the opportunity to explore the relationship between humans and nature at nine different hands-on stations. Topics such as the symbolic power of trees and the connection between wolves and humans can be experienced there. There is also a wishing tree and a labyrinth that invite you to discover yourself. Each of these stations is linked to a book from the “Forest Library”, which makes the experience an educational time out in nature, as the Harz National Park website informs.

Experience the Harz together

What more does it take than an adventurous group and a path to keep the stories of the Harz alive? With his tours, Kiehne offers a platform that not only tells the legends, but also brings people together. Together they promote exchange and understanding between generations and enable a shared experience of nature. The Harz remains an unforgettable destination for all those who want to experience the magic of fairy tales up close.
