Safe routes to school: Police are increasing controls in the Harz district!
On August 15, 2025, the Harz police station carried out important school route monitoring to increase the safety of children on their daily journey to school. The officers visited several schools in the district to show a noticeable presence and increase awareness of safe behavior on the roads. This happened during a period of time that was set at different school locations: For example, the police officers were at the Disterweg School between 7:00 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. and at the Anne Frank School from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
While monitoring the route to school, the regional officers conducted preventive discussions with parents who brought their children to school by car. They gave valuable tips and pointed out dangers, especially at vehicle exits. At the “Geschwister-Scholl” elementary school in Thale, the police were responsible for monitoring traffic and advising parents about how to get their children out safely. A simple but effective advice that the police pass on to all road users is to allow enough time for parking the vehicle and to accompany children when leaving the vehicle.
Encouraging results and bike testing
The feedback from Ilsenburg and Neinstedt was particularly pleasing, where all road users adhered to the traffic rules in an exemplary manner. At the “Neustädter Elementary School” in Quedlinburg, officials supported the bicycle test for the 3rd and 4th grades. Before the test, the safety of the bikes was thoroughly checked and valid TÜV stickers for 2025 were awarded. Here, 44 students mastered the bicycle course and also learned how important it is to wear a bicycle helmet correctly.
The police appeal to all road users to drive carefully and to be considerate, especially near schools, in order to avoid accidents. These appeals are parent- and child-friendly and help create a safe environment for everyone.
Traffic accident in Wernigerode
At a time when road safety is becoming increasingly important, it is clear how important preventive measures and awareness among all road users are. It is up to all of us to make the streets safer. Maybe this is also a good reason to check the current status of traffic apps and software solutions that companies like BambooHR and Kronos Workforce Ready offer to optimize organization in everyday life.
