Reading with Susanne Döhrel: Exciting village stories in Genthin!
It will be really exciting in the city and district library "Edlef Köppen" in Genthin next week. Because from October 6th to 17th, the Genthiner Library Days 2025 take place! With a colorful program for bookworms, creative and curious people, everyone will get their money's worth. A mixture of readings, discussions and hands -on offers for young and old ensures entertainment and stimulating conversations. Folk vote reported that the start of the library days begins on October 6th at 10 a.m. with an open games meeting.
On the first evening, the literary program will really get going. From 6 p.m. there will be a reading with texts by Heinz Erhardt that promise humorous entertainment. A real highlight will be the reading with the author Susanne Döhrel, which takes place on October 7th at 4:30 p.m. Döhrel will present passages from her captivating novel series "In the Shadow of the Christian Roses", which in the 1980s take place in a fictional village in the Harz. Meeting point describes the stories as a haunting mixture of local novels, village history and crime novels that illuminate topics such as village idyll, social tensions and interpersonal relationships.
A varied program
The Genthin Library Days not only offer readings, but also a variety of activities. On October 7th, visitors can expect a digital consultation hour on online lending at 10 a.m., followed by a craft hour in the afternoon. On October 8th, the satirical duo Sander and Struck will give a staged reading about the “battle of the sexes”. Another highlight is the closing event on October 17th at 5:30 p.m., where there will be a literary competition between Rainer Maria Rilke and Edlef Köppen.
The library director Yvonne Hillmann will also be involved and will certainly offer some exciting incentives for visitors. Admission to most events is free, but some require registrations. Anyone interested should contact the library quickly, as a good knack for planning your own promises a lot of fun!
