Festival of generations: Magdeburg seniors celebrate 25 years of joy!
The district festival took place on the Elbe island in Magdeburg on July 5, 2025, and this year was particularly pleased about the happy participation of senior citizens. Among the guests were the popular “grandmas in the blue aprons”, who are known from many events in the city. On the grounds of the ESV Lok Magdeburg e.V. bowling facility. V. not only coffee and cake were served, but also grilled food, which underlined the coziness and sociable atmosphere. The seniors from the AG Dialog der Generations were a central part of the festival and let the children show off their skills with various games, such as throwing cans and throwing targets.
“A great moment” – that’s how the leader Edeltraud Schochert described the 25th anniversary of the group, which belongs to the Magdeburg Volunteer Agency. This ceremony was certainly a reason to celebrate for the many participants. The district festival was organized by the Community Working Group (GWA) in cooperation with the WerderanerFreunde association, which promotes lively coexistence in the neighborhood.
New project announcements
An additional highlight of the event was the announcement of a new project: The GWA would like to decorate a SWM building on Mittelstrasse and the corner of Badestrasse with graffiti. This will be done in conjunction with a fundraising campaign that will run until July 10, 2025. Speaker Daniel Adler called for active participation and support for the project.
Events and opportunities for seniors
The district festival is not the only example of lively events in Magdeburg. Offers for seniors in particular are becoming more and more important. Events promote social contacts, entertainment and quality of life in old age.
