Henry Berg: New head in the executive board of 1. FC Magdeburg!
There is exciting news in Magdeburg football! Henry Berg, the 55-year-old managing director of the HB Real Estate Group, was today appointed to the executive board of 1. FC Magdeburg e.V. by the supervisory board. The experienced football enthusiast is already known to many, not least as the namesake of the HB-Immobilien youth performance center, which takes care of promoting young talent. “I am looking forward to the new tasks in the Executive Board,” explained Berg and thanked him for the trust he has placed in him.
His expertise in sports and business benefits the club. The President of 1. FC Magdeburg, Dr. Jörg Biastoch, highlighted the importance of Berg's experiences in football. Through his voluntary work on the economic advisory board, he is very familiar with the club's structure. The place on the presidium that Simone Borris previously held was not filled by a member of the Magdeburg FFC, so the decision fell on Berg. This step is intended to further strengthen the committee's ability to act, as Matthias Niedung, the chairman of the supervisory board, emphasized.
New talent in the youth performance center
But that's not all! Another talent is following in the footsteps of the club's own youth performance center. Philipp Depta, a footballer from Deetz, has made the jump to the U13 team at 1. FC Magdeburg. The talented boy, who started playing at the fussballKIDSclub e.V. at the age of four, has developed impressively. He has already celebrated many successes at FC Deetz, where he was active from the G-Juniors to the D-Juniors, including winning the district cup with his C-Juniors.
Philipp brings temperament, speed and remarkable shooting power and will in future live in the boarding school of the youth performance center and attend the sports high school. Training will take him three times a week in both mornings and afternoons, while he will compete in the North East talent game against teams such as Carl Zeiss Jena and Dynamo Dresden. His last major appearance was the victory in the final, where he contributed three goals to his team's 5-0 win.
A look at promoting young talent
The development of youth football in German football should not be underestimated. The German Football Association (DFB) introduced a talent development program in 2002. There are currently 346 bases and 58 official youth training centers in Germany. However, the status of a club with a youth performance center is not always guaranteed; For example, Kickers Offenbach's status has just been revoked.
The exciting time for 1. FC Magdeburg and for talented players like Philipp Depta is promising. It remains to be seen what new challenges lie ahead for the club and its young talents. Football inspires and brings people together – this can be seen once again in Magdeburg!
