Magdeburgers celebrate the magic of lights: Lumagica brings Advent joy!
The spooky time of the year is over, and November 3rd, 2025 brings not only the end of Halloween, but also anticipation of the coming Advent season. The people of Cologne are already preparing for festive treats such as gingerbread and cinnamon stars. A special highlight for the Christmas season has already been determined: the Lumagica light show, which takes place in the Elbarenpark, will be presented for the fourth time this year. The organizers are expecting around 50,000 visitors who can look forward to a magical route of 2.2 kilometers that leads past around 400 light objects. The lighting can be viewed daily from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and tickets are already available online.
Another clear sign of the beginning of winter is the next dance evening of the Magdeburg swing community, which is taking place today at the Sitara dance school. The Halloween swing starts at 7:30 p.m. and offers all dance enthusiasts the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of swing and celebrate together.
Literary enjoyment and creative Halloween ideas
There is a very special program item on offer for those interested in culture this evening: Detlef Färber invites you to the event “The Poet's Champus” in the Magdeburg City Library at 5 p.m. This is an exciting mix of reading, satire and theater under the motto “Cheers to prose and poetry”. A clear tip for everyone who likes to be entertained by creative texts.
But what remains after Halloween? The online community is already eagerly discussing new themes and decoration ideas for next year. Many are looking forward to implementing their own ideas with an indoor witch haunt or a spooky graveyard with a pumpkin patch. Others rely on creative concepts, such as an asylum theme inspired by phobias, or a return to the law theme inspired by a new dinosaur film. In addition, some members are willing to enrich their decorations with Lovecraftian elements and animatronic details.
Plans for the next Halloween season
The anticipation for the next Halloween season is palpable, and the community is already planning a variety of themes for their celebrations. These include creative approaches such as a “Dark Druid Sacrifice” theme and classic spooky houses that are redesigned year after year. Some are going for nostalgic elements, like a planned Jaws setup to celebrate the film's 50th anniversary. It turns out that Halloween fans use every opportunity to be creative and take the spooky to a new level.
The transition from Halloween to Advent becomes a colorful mix of dance, literature and creative ideas. Cologne and Magdeburgers have a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks, when the city's lights will shine again and the anticipation of Christmas is in the air.
