Speeders beware: New speed controls in the Salzland district!

The police have been diligently carrying out speed checks in the last few days, and the results are more than revealing. In Mehringen, on Schackstedter Straße, the police stopped a total of 279 vehicles on Thursday between 4:42 p.m. and 8:42 p.m. 17 speeding violations were identified, with the fastest driver being on the list of offenders at 79 km/h. The maximum permissible speed here is 50 km/h. The fine notices will be sent out in the coming days or weeks, as Magdeburg Klickt reports.

But it wasn't just in Mehringen that checks were carried out. In Schönebeck there was also a check on Magdeburger Straße in the direction of Magdeburg on the same Thursday. 86 vehicles were measured here between 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Five of them exceeded the speed limit. Particularly annoying for a driver who was speeding at 96 km/h: fine proceedings were initiated against him. Here too, the permitted speed was 50 km/h.

Stricter measures for road safety

The nationwide speed controls have a clear goal: to increase road safety and counteract speeding violations. The police use both stationary and mobile speed cameras for this purpose, with radar systems and laser measuring devices being used. These speed monitoring techniques have been proven effective since the 1950s and are generally carried out by police and regional regulatory authorities, according to the report on Bussgeldkatalog.

The different techniques used in the controls are particularly important: light barriers, laser measurements and sensory controls are just a few examples. In the past, as now, if violations are identified, there are sanctions according to the catalog of fines. This can have serious consequences, especially for novice drivers who exceed the speed by more than 21 km/h: an advanced seminar will then be required.

Checking the ability to drive

But speed controls weren't the only thing on the agenda. Checking driving ability was also taken seriously. In Bernburg, for example, a 39-year-old cyclist was stopped on Magdeburger Chaussee on Friday night. He drove unsafely and smelled of alcohol. The voluntary test showed an alarming 1.77 per mille, which led to the initiation of an investigation. However, there is a positive result: the blood sample was taken to preserve evidence and further travel was prohibited.

A 36-year-old driver in Könnern experienced a similar situation: her check on Nordstrasse revealed evidence of possible narcotics consumption. A rapid test came back positive, meaning she was also banned from continuing her journey for 24 hours. The driving license office has also been informed to take further action.

The authority has a good knack for removing dangerous drivers from traffic - a measure that benefits not only those affected, but also all other road users.

With these measures, the authorities show that the issue of road safety is of great importance. The inspection results and constant monitoring are essential to making the roads safer for everyone, and the next inspections will certainly not be long in coming.
