Salzlandkreis and Baghdati: New partnership for education and culture!
It is a big step for international cooperation in the field of education and culture: The Salzlandkreis has launched a new partnership with the Georgian municipality of Baghdati. District Administrator Markus Bauer and District Council Chairman Thomas Gruschka recently visited Baghdati, where they exchanged ideas with Mayor Kakha Enukidze and representatives of educational institutions and agricultural businesses. These meetings are the starting signal for a promising cooperation that is intended to address various areas, including the environment, economy and of course education. This is reported by bbglive.de.
But what exactly should this collaboration look like? Among other things, the plan is for an exchange of young people who will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in the Salzland district. District Administrator Bauer emphasized the importance of this knowledge transfer: “Progress comes from sharing experience and knowledge.” Thomas Grushka also highlighted the good discussions and the close connection to the Georgian partners. Together we want to open up new perspectives for future projects that go beyond pure learning.
Insight into the cooperation
During their trip, the delegation from the Salzland district visited several farms that are primarily known for their wine growing. In addition, people found out about the existing educational structures in Georgia at the Iberia vocational training center as well as at the World Education Academy and the Baghdati Music and Art School. The aim is to identify starting points for exchange programs in areas such as electrical engineering, agriculture and gastronomy in order to make the cooperation as broad as possible. The agreement, which has existed since 2024, is a cornerstone for future cooperation.
The partnership between the Salzlandkreis and Baghdati is not only interesting for the organizations involved, but also for deepening relations between Germany and Georgia. The background to this initiative is Georgia's aspirations to join the European Union, which requires partnerships from various sides. This is also reflected in the goals of the Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space, which is committed to international cooperation in order to overcome global challenges and increase innovation capacity. Leadership through networking
Overall, the development shows how important knowledge transfer is for progress. Further meetings in Germany are already being considered in order to deepen relations and create the basis for long-term cooperation. Opening up the Salzlandkreis to international partners could act as a reliable network partner in the areas of education and culture, not only within the EU but also beyond. This could make a crucial contribution to overcoming regional and global challenges that are becoming increasingly complex over time.
In the future we will see to what extent these new partnerships will bear fruit and what specific projects will result from the discussions that have already been initiated. The first steps have been taken and there is great interest in further expanding the connection between the Salzlandkreis and Baghdati.
