SPD discussion in Bernburg: Improve educational opportunities for children!

What is happening in and around Bernburg today? Quite a lot! The news blog “SLK live” reports on current events in the Salzland district, especially on events and topics that directly affect citizens. The focus today is particularly on the SPD parliamentary group's discussion event in the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt, which will take place at 7 p.m. in the Metropol, Schloßstraße 20. But that's not all that's happening in the region! The graphics days of the Graphic Foundation Neo Rauch in Aschersleben, which will take place from July 14th to 16th, 2025, also promise to be a real blast. These are led by the artist Mandy Kunze and are aimed at students and young people aged 13 to 18 who are interested in art. Workshop courses are offered on the first and second days, while the third day includes a visit to Kunze's studio in Leipzig. Registrations are already possible online and it is certain that many young people want to be there.

Cultural education in focus

Cultural education is also very important as part of the “Culture Compass for Schools” project. This project was launched by KUBIS Saxony-Anhalt and aims to strengthen cultural and artistic education in schools. That sounds promising, doesn't it? In the years from July 2014 to December 2018, 20 schools in Saxony-Anhalt actively took part in this state school trial. There were not only new teaching ideas, but also numerous workshops that brought students and teachers together.

The schools also found this exciting! They agreed on joint projects and were able to gain new experience in cultural education through the project. The “Culture Hiking Day” format was introduced and many creative activities took place. At the end of the project, 10 schools that had particularly distinguished themselves were recognized as “cultural meeting point schools”. It will be interesting to see what happens next with cultural education. A new project called “KUMBIS” (Cultural Media Education in Schools) is already in the starting blocks.

Strong together for the environment

Another interesting topic is the protection of nature around Bernburg. Here, drone pilots are currently looking for deer fawns in order to save them from death by mowing. A small but nice contribution to nature conservation that shows that awareness of wildlife is also growing in Lusatia. This is an important sign in times when environmental issues are becoming increasingly pressing.

Last but not least, the singers of the Neundorfer “Eintracht” are celebrating a special anniversary during this time: 150 years of choral singing! This is celebrated with a birthday party and musical performances and shows how important music is for the community.

Whether education, art or environmental protection – the events in and around Bernburg clearly show that there is a lively life here! Citizens are active and shape their surroundings with their hearts and minds.
