67-year-old dies in tragic head-on accident on B252 near Frankenberg
A tragic traffic accident occurred on federal highway 252 near Frankenberg on Friday afternoon. A 67-year-old driver lost his life after his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and had a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer. The terrible incident happened around 2:40 p.m. between Korbach and Marburg when the driver lost control of his car in a slight right-hand bend on a downhill stretch for reasons that are still unclear. The police, emergency services and fire brigade were quickly on site, but any help came too late for the man and he died at the scene of the accident from his serious injuries. Tixio reported that the driver was trapped in the vehicle, making rescue efforts even more difficult.
The material damage is estimated at around 80,000 euros, with the truck's diesel tank also being torn open by the impact, prompting the fire department to pump out diesel to prevent an environmental hazard. The federal highway had to be closed between the exits towards Rosenthal and Bottendorf until the evening while an expert was called in to clarify the cause of the accident. The HNA added that the police are now investigating the exact circumstances surrounding this serious accident.
