The man had been missing since June 22nd, when he fell into the lake while boating with a companion and subsequently sank. Despite intensive search efforts by the police, fire brigade and volunteers, the man remained undetected for more than three weeks. It was only a bather who discovered the body on the surface of the water on Friday evening, which resulted in immediate rescue by the Uffing and Kochel water rescue services. The Weilheim criminal police are investigating the incident, but so far there is no evidence of foul play Tixio reports.
The circumstances of the incident are tragic and highlight the dangers that can lurk around bodies of water. According to the police, the incident took place while the 79-year-old was traveling on a pedal boat with a companion. After falling into the water, the search operations that were initiated immediately were unfortunately unsuccessful. The Bavarian police has taken over further investigations and the Munich II public prosecutor's office is taking legal action.
