Drama in Tangermünde: Two vehicles in flames – cause of fire unclear!
On September 18, 2025, a sad incident occurred in Tangermünde: a parked Daimler-Benz belonging to a 70-year-old suddenly caught fire while it was parked at the harbor. The driver reacted quickly and immediately informed the rescue control center. The fire department arrived quickly on site and was able to completely extinguish the fire. However, a nearby Skoda was also affected by the fire. The damage caused to both vehicles is in the lower five-figure range. The criminal police are currently investigating the cause of the fire, which is currently unknown, which, according to the Jura-Online blog, may also indicate unclear liability. In the event of a vehicle fire, things can get complicated, especially if the causes remain unclear, as was recently discovered (Jura Online).
On the same day, but a little later, a drunken driver was caught in Stendal. An attentive witness reported that a 62-year-old in a Honda was apparently driving under the influence of alcohol. A breath alcohol test showed a level of 1.83 per mille. The driver of the vehicle was taken to the police station, where a blood sample was taken. Due to the high alcohol concentration, criminal proceedings were initiated and his driver's license was confiscated. Unfortunately, such incidents are not uncommon and contribute to the negative road traffic statistics published by the Federal Statistical Office (Federal Statistical Office).
Traffic accident in Schönhausen
Shortly after midnight, more precisely on September 19, 2025 at 4:33 a.m., there was a serious traffic accident on the B 107 in Schönhausen. A 32-year-old overtook a truck in his Peugeot and collided with an oncoming Skoda that was being driven by a 59-year-old. The overtaker had to be taken to hospital with serious injuries, while the Skoda driver suffered minor injuries. The vehicles had to be towed after the accident and the road was partially closed for about two and a half hours to carry out the accident investigation and recovery efforts.
This incident shows once again how dangerous the roads can be. The increased accident rate is a serious problem in Germany, as the Federal Office statistics show. In recent years, such traffic offenses have become widespread, particularly in urban areas, leading to calls for better education and prevention measures.
In summary, both the fires and the traffic accidents illustrate the dangers on our roads. The authorities are faced with the challenge of identifying the causes and increasing safety for all road users. In cases of fire, the legal framework must be taken into account in particular in order to determine liability in the event of damage, which was discussed in the last decision of the Federal Court of Justice (Jura Online).
