Wood theft and accidents - Stendal is becoming more and more criminal!

A new theft causes excitement in the region. On September 22nd, 2025, a previously unknown group of perpetrators stole wood from a property on the field path in Chausseehaus Hassel. The damage is estimated at a few hundred euros and the criminal police have already started an investigation to identify the perpetrators. Wood theft is not only unethical but also illegal in Germany. The tree belongs to the property owner, and even collecting fallen branches can have legal consequences, as [isteshaltbar.de](https://www.isteshaltbar.de/frage-und- Answer/was-passiert-wenn-man-holz-klaut) explains.

The theft of wood is a serious problem these days. In the Police Crime Statistics (PKS) 2024, which was recently published, theft offenses make up the largest proportion of crimes with over 1.94 million cases. What is particularly noteworthy is that the number of thefts fell during the Corona pandemic due to the limited opportunities. In the recent past, however, there has been an increase in acts of theft, the causes of which can be explained, among other things, by technological developments and preventive measures.

Another incident in the region

Already on September 23, 2025, electronic waste was stolen from a company premises in the Seehausen industrial area. Here too, the damage caused is currently unassessed. This shows how diverse and brazen the forms of crime are in the region. The criminal police have also started investigating here.

A curious but no less serious incident occurred on September 24th, 2025 on the B190 near Seehausen. A 56-year-old truck driver had to suddenly brake at a red light. Unfortunately, a 53-year-old Nissan driver overlooked this braking action and rear-ended. The fender damage was significant and required the Nissan to be towed, while the truck driver sustained minor injuries.

Road safety in view

On the same day, at 8:40 a.m. on Scharnhorststrasse in Stendal, the police found a 21-year-old on an e-scooter who was traveling without an insurance license plate. A rapid drug test came back positive for cocaine, which led to further action. Here the journey was prohibited and a blood sample was taken. This shows once again that traffic monitoring is necessary to ensure safety on the roads.

The wood theft and other incidents highlight the importance of being vigilant. In a country where 48% of the forest is privately owned, it is essential to protect the rights of owners and raise public awareness of the legal framework, as [isteshaltbar.de](https://www.isteshaltbar.de/frage-und- Answer/was-passiert-wenn-man-holz-klaut) continues. The police appeal to citizens to immediately report information about suspicious activity and to promote cooperation.

The ongoing discussion about thefts and especially after the theft of wood shows that crime is still an important issue in Germany. Everyone can contribute to safety by staying vigilant and reporting suspicious incidents. Police crime statistics from bka.de explain that despite the decline in certain areas, theft remains a significant challenge.
