The reasons for the increasing popularity are diverse. Currently, the popular camping destinations are no longer exclusively located in the Harz or Harz foothills. Since 2022, places like Magdeburg and the Elbe-Börde-Heide have been the new favorites of campers. Particularly noteworthy is the Halle, Saale and Unstrut region, which has recorded an increase of over 165 percent in overnight stays in the last ten years. This shows that people value relaxation in nature.
