Bautzen trembles: Fête de la Musique brings sound variety into the streets!

Bautzen, Deutschland - On June 21, Bautzen becomes a sound oasis, because the Fête de la Musique celebrates one Grandios comeback. After the cancellation in the previous year, music lovers can look forward to a colorful festival again, who want to bring people together and celebrate the joy of music. Over 150 musicians of all styles have already registered for this special day and will appear in numerous places in the city.

The appearances are planned for the main market, Reichenstrasse, the forecourt of the Maria-und-Martha church, the cathedral of St. Petri, Schloßstraße and the cultural garden of the Sorbian National Ensemble. From jazz to rock’n’roll to country, hit and metal - the musical diversity is huge. Highlights include the Project Circus Tomello with a family show on the main market and the big band of the Kreismusikschule Bautzen, which will also create the mood at the event. The electro rock band "The Rock Complex" will also be on stage. A karaoke spot on Schloßstraße, which is played from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., also offers the opportunity to become active yourself.

Invitation to all music enthusiasts

The city of Bautzen has invited all music enthusiasts to participate - from hobby musicians to professionals. There is the possibility to make music on the street spontaneously and unpleasant or to use a fixed stage. Registrations for a stage slot are possible until April 30, 2025. Registrations can be easily submitted using the online form on the website of the city of Bautzen. However, no registration is required for spontaneous appearances of legitimate street music, only the guide applicable in this regard must be followed.

This year, the organizers even expect up to 20 additional active artists who could show themselves at short notice. The church element is also taken into account with a cathedral vespers that includes music, readings and prayers. A wide audience is addressed and the city's cultural diversity is brought to the fore, while at the same time the city administration is trying to meet all logistical requirements. Traffic restrictions in the old town area, however, must be observed due to the simultaneous Bautzen Theater summer.

In Germany, more than 140 locations celebrate this permanent event, which serves to bring people together through music. In Bautzen, the festival pursues the goal of offering a platform for public music presentations and actively supporting urban culture, as the Network of the Fête de la Musique confirms. A variety of performances await us, ranging from small street concerts to impressive stage shows.

With the first plans that started half a year ago, and the adoption of successful ideas from 2024, such as the popular karaoke point, both the musicians and the organizers are looking forward to an event that is all about unity and joy in music. The evening becomes the festival of the sounds and a meeting place for everyone who is enthusiastic about music.
