Zuse Camp in Hoyerswerda: Mini captains build their own smart boats!

The Zuse Camp in Hoyerswerda is the perfect place for technology-loving young people! Under the motto “Mini Captains – The Sea Explorer is created”, the event will take place from July 28th to August 1st, 2025. The target group are students in the 7th and 8th grades, who have the opportunity to expand their technical knowledge in a very practical way. A highlight of the camp is building your own smart boat, which is equipped with a microcontroller, radio connection and a temperature sensor. Programming and control is carried out conveniently via smartphone. At the end of the week there is an exciting launching competition on a nearby lake in which the self-built boats compete against each other. This is an excellent opportunity to combine technology and teamwork.

Workshops and more

In addition to boat building, the program includes practical workshops on topics such as Raspberry Pi, radio technology and robotics. An active museum visit to the ZCOM Zuse Computer Museum and an electronic scavenger hunt round off the offer. Participants also gain insights into a regional tech company, which further strengthens the practical connection to technology. The camp times are daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For just 40 euros per person, participants receive complete food, materials and a certificate of participation.
