On Saturday, July 19, 2025, the time has finally come: Chemnitzer FC (CFC) opens the new season with an exciting test match against 1. FC Magdeburg. The event in the stadium on Gellertstrasse begins at 2:30 p.m., with the official kick-off at 4:00 p.m. How MDR reports, the CFC was specially prepared for the encounter in order to offer the fans an unforgettable experience.

The anticipation for the opening game is palpable. Office manager Tommy Haeder is pleased about the attractive choice of opponents and emphasizes that the goal is to attract many spectators to the stadium. With around 1,500 tickets already sold, we are well on the way to reaching the targeted 5,000 spectators. In addition to football, there is an extensive supporting program for the family, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A varied program

Special highlights include the birthday of the mascot Malik, the guest of honor, legendary coach Hans Meyer, and an exciting flag painting day with the fan scene. There will also be a Burger King food truck on site, the proceeds of which will benefit the CFC young talent. And that's not all: fans can also look forward to a large auction with unique items and have the opportunity to marvel at the new away jersey, which will also be presented two days before the game.

The various ticket options are available online, in advance booking offices and in the CFC fan shop. If you want to make a spontaneous purchase on match day, you have to pay a surcharge of 2 euros. This good organization shows that the CFC has a good knack for exciting the fans!

1. FC Magdeburg: A strong opponent

1. FC Magdeburg fought for promotion to the Bundesliga last season and finished in a respectable fifth place. Despite some personnel problems, such as the failures of Daniel Heber and Andi Hoti, coach Christian Titz's team is perceived as an attractive opponent. Everyone hopes that the game will not only be exciting, but also provide a great backdrop.

The CFC's preparation for this season began on June 18th under coach Benjamin Duda, who planned a total of eight test games. In the past few weeks, the team has also tested against some interesting opponents such as SpVgg Fürth II and gained important experience in the process.

To summarize: On July 19th, the Chemnitz fan scene will come together once again to actively support the club. It promises to be a great event, not only for the Chemnitzer FC supporters, but also for all football enthusiasts in the region. Don't miss this football festival!
