Eleven people injured in a carriage accident in Reinsdorf: police are investigating!
In Reinsdorf, near Zwickau, there was a terrible accident with a tour carriage on Saturday. According to MDR, eleven people were injured, five of them seriously. The carriage, which was being pulled by a tractor, overturned in a U-turn and all of its occupants, including men aged 27 to 54 and a 32-year-old woman, fell out. Fortunately, the driver of the tractor was uninjured. At the scene of the accident, emergency services found broken bottles, a cooler bag and a crate of beer, which could indicate a boozy excursion destination.
The circumstances of the accident are currently unclear. The police have initiated an investigation against the 46-year-old tractor driver because there is suspicion of negligent bodily harm. The damage to the Kremser amounts to around 500 euros. Numerous rescue workers were deployed to provide medical care for the injured: seven ambulances, two ambulances and four emergency doctors as well as a rescue helicopter were at the scene of the accident.
Investigations into further accidents
Unfortunately, such incidents do not happen infrequently, as can be seen in another tragic case in the Rostock district. According to Nordkurier, the public prosecutor is investigating a tractor driver after an 80-year-old driver died in a collision with a hay tedder. The tractor driver had turned onto the narrow state road 17 when the fatal accident occurred. An expert was also called in to investigate the accident there and the road was closed for a long time.
Road safety is a very important issue, especially when it comes to agricultural vehicles. A study by UDV shows that accidents involving agricultural tractors disproportionately often lead to serious injuries or even deaths. The fatality rate in such accidents is 56 times higher than in accidents involving cars. This is an alarming signal for road safety.
Precautions and technologies
The UDV emphasizes that many accidents involving tractors could be prevented through technologies that can be implemented in the short and medium term. Systems such as front and rear cameras could prevent up to 20 percent of accidents. Given recent accidents, it is clear that there is still much to be improved to protect both pedestrians and vehicle drivers.
The events of the last few days clearly show that there are a number of points to consider in traffic and that both drivers and authorities are required to ensure the safety of all road users.
