Young artistic talents enchant Chemnitz: Triennale starts today!

The art scene in Chemnitz is experiencing a new upswing: On Sunday, August 17, 2025, the Prize winner exhibition of the JugendKunstTriennale 2024 opened. The works of young talents from Saxony and Bavaria can be seen in the historic “Old Turning Mill” on the garage campus until September 7th. The exhibition offers an exciting insight into various art forms - from acrylic painting and ink drawings to collages, photographs and comics.

A total of 438 works from 276 young artists were submitted, which shows the lively participation in this important competition. The jury awarded 26 prize winners, including the main prize winner Lotta Seifert and the sponsorship prize winner Finia Merle Schneider. Recognition awards also went to promising young artists such as Maximilian Dotzauer, Sophie Gulde from Limbach-Oberfrohna, Lara Siegel and Lotte Warncke.

A showcase for young talent

The JugendKunstTriennale is the heart of the Saxon-Bavarian city network, which unites cities such as Chemnitz, Zwickau, Plauen, Hof, Bayreuth and Marktredwitz. Since 1998, young artists between the ages of 14 and 25 have had the opportunity to present their work to a wide audience here. The event, which began in Hof, closes its doors in Chemnitz, which was named European Capital of Culture in 2025.

The prize-winning works will also be shown in a traveling exhibition in other cities in the Saxon-Bavarian city network. This is not only a great springboard for artists, but also brings art and culture closer to people.

Opening times and exhibition

Anyone who would like to experience the works up close will have the opportunity to do so in the coming weeks. The exhibition has the following opening times:

  • Montag und Donnerstag: 9-16 Uhr
  • Dienstag: 9-18 Uhr
  • Freitag: 9-17 Uhr
  • Samstag: 11-14 Uhr

This event also offers an opportunity to discover the cultural diversity of the region. Many young artists from Saxony and Bavaria impressively show what they can do and are ready to bring their creative streak to the canvas.

A visit is definitely worth it for art lovers and those who want to become one. Maybe you'll find the next big talent - or just a nice wall decoration for your own home.
