Nadine fights for victory: The difficult path at Heavy24 in Chemnitz!

What a challenge! Nadine took part in the Heavy24 extreme bike race in Chemnitz as a solo rider and mastered the exertion with remarkable determination. After four to five months of endurance training, she was well prepared, but race day still brought its own set of challenges. Around 3 a.m., as fatigue and cold night air set in, there were moments when she struggled with stomach problems, but the drive she received from friends, visitors and even strangers along the route kept her on the bike.

In total, Nadine completed 30 race laps of approx. 9 kilometers each and thus secured 4th place among the individual riders. Despite the tiring night, which she found surprisingly more pleasant than the heat of the day, she felt exhausted but proud after the race. As she says: “Hats off to everyone who takes on this challenge.” Your plans for the next round are still open, but one thing is certain: loyalty to Heavy24 stands.

The path to equality in cycling

But there is still a lot to do. Women in cycling still face challenges when it comes to media presence, sponsor support and fair prize money. Many initiatives are working to reduce these inequalities. There is a clear trend emerging in these efforts: the more visible races and events organized for women, the more young female athletes will be inspired to join cycling.
