Nadine fights for victory: The difficult path at the Heavy24 in Chemnitz!
What a challenge! Nadine faced the extremely wheel race Heavy24 in Chemnitz as a single driver and mastered the hardship with remarkable determination. After months of endurance training of four to five months, she was well prepared, but the race day nevertheless brought its very own challenges. Around 3 a.m., when the tiredness and cold night air started, there were moments when she struggled with stomach problems, but the drive she found out of friends, visitors and even strangers kept on the bike.
A total of 30 races covered about 9 kilometers and thus secured the 4th place among the individual drivers. Despite the exhausting night, which she found more pleasant than the heat of the day, she felt exhausted after the race, but proud. As she says, "Hats off everyone who stands up to this challenge." Your plans for the next round are still open, but one thing is certain: loyalty to the Heavy24.
The way to equality in cycling
But there is still a lot to do. Women still face challenges in cycling when it comes to media presence, sponsorship support and fair prize money. Many initiatives work to reduce these inequalities. There is a clear trend in these efforts: the more visible races and events for women are organized, the more young athletes are inspired to join cycling.
