Steampunk festival in Chemnitz: Magical journey back in time to the industrial age!
Today is a very special day for all steampunk fans! The fifth steampunk festival took place in Chemnitz Industrial Museum opened its doors. From 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., visitors can immerse themselves in a fascinating world characterized by Victorian style, imaginative costumes and unusual inventions. The theme of the festival is the value of collecting and not throwing away items - an idea that has more meaning than ever in these fast times.
Among the participants is Michael Schönfeld, who is already in the right outfit with his striped vest, top hat and old-fashioned safety glasses. He sums up the steampunk feeling perfectly by emphasizing that this festival is also about traveling to other countries and times. Together with his wife Karla, he enjoys the colorful atmosphere and the creative exhibits, which not only look expensive but often also tell exciting stories.
Diverse program and highlights
The event is more than just an exhibition - it is the start of an open air event that will hold various events until the end of August Chemnitz Industrial Museum offers. For the first time, a large stage will be set up in the museum's green area, where bands such as “Off Limits” will perform and even play the didgeridoo. One of the highlights of the festival is the popular “Tea Pot Race,” in which teapots move through a course on remote-controlled vehicles. Another extraordinary sight is the steampunk rocket moving through the site.
The great atmosphere is complemented by a colorfully mixed program: from music and theater to dance and juggling to hands-on activities - there is something for everyone here. The juggler Friedrich and the East Dance Company, for example, provide entertainment, while the comedian group “Oh Alter Knaben Herrlichkeit” makes the audience laugh. “The Hot Shots” open the festival at 10:00 a.m. and the program continues lively into the afternoon.
A celebration for the whole family
The steampunk festival in Chemnitz Industrial Museum aims to appeal to families and offer them a diverse experience. While the children play in the colorful world of steampunk culture, parents can admire the artistic and craft skills of the exhibitors. The outdoor area is open for free entry, but entry to the museum's interior is required.
Next Saturday, July 4th, brings another highlight to the series with the guest performance of the music cabaret “Tendernesses with Friends”, followed by the “EuroBean Chocolate Festival” from August 1st to 3rd - a chocolate market that unites beliefs from all over Europe. Stay tuned for upcoming events and visit the program on the website Chemnitz Industrial Museum for more information.
