Diverse talents honored: inspire winning photos from Chemnitz!

On May 28, 2025, the photo competition “Lived Variety” ended, which was launched by the Technical University of Chemnitz in cooperation with the city of Chemnitz and the Cultural City of Europe Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH. The aim of the competition was to present the diverse social reality and the different facets of diversity in the region. The competition, which was created as part of the “Diversity Audits” of the Stifterverband, promoted the participation of a general public and attracted numerous submissions.

A total of 44 photos of 24 participants who came from different cities, including Bielefeld, Leipzig and Döbeln. The jury, led by Prof. Dr. Anja Strobel, selected the most impressive works to present them in an exhibition.

The awards were awarded on May 27, 2025. The winner of the first prize is Anna-Lena Richter from Meißen with her photo "special people". The second prize went to Natalie Bleyl from Chemnitz for the "arrived" work, while Wolfgang Thieme from Niederwiesa/Braunsdorf received the third prize for his photo "Waiting for Spring in Chemnitz". In addition, special prizes to Claudia Dohle from Augustusburg for "transformation" and Liliana Seidel from Lichtenberg were awarded for "respect".

The awarded photos were selected by the jury after a careful selection, which address the social, cultural, sexual, sexual, religious and age -related diversity. The competition thus reflects the current discussion about diversity, which is also becoming increasingly important in the media and aesthetic productions. To support the competition, several partners contributed, including the company of friends of the TU Chemnitz e. V. and the Willy Gröer GmbH & Co. KG. The university library opened its doors to visitors from Monday to Saturday, between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., and also offers a book table with topics related to diversity.
