Wildgatterfest in Chemnitz: nature experience for the whole family!
September will be a very special month for animal lovers in Chemnitz! The popular Wildgatterfest takes place in the Wildgatter Oberrabenstein on September 6th and 7th. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., visitors can experience exciting European wildlife on an impressive area of approximately 35 hectares of forest land. Reason enough to get the family together and spend an exciting day outdoors! The organizer, the Wildgatter Oberrabenstein in collaboration with the Tierparkfreunde Chemnitz e. V., has come up with a lot of ideas to delight young and old. Chemnitz.de reports that educational, hands-on activities and exciting information await everyone.
When it comes to getting there, there are enough parking spaces available at Rabenstein Castle, at the Oberrabenstein reservoir and on Grünaer Straße. A relaxed start to an exciting weekend is guaranteed! In addition, the summer opening times apply in the zoo, which is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., while the wildlife gate opens from 9 a.m. and is accessible to visitors until 6 p.m.
Versatile program for the whole family
But the Wildgatterfest has even more to offer. The following weekend, September 21st and 22nd, the Wildgatter invites you again. There is also a colorful program here from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition to nature experiences, there will be numerous stands where, among others, the Chemnitz Nature Watcher, the Association for the Environment and Nature Conservation Germany (BUND) and the beekeeping association “Chemnitz 1874” are represented. This not only delights little explorers, but also everyone who enjoys nature!
The activities surrounding the hunting dogs and the building activities for nesting boxes and insect hotels will be particularly exciting. In addition, exciting hunting horn blowing is announced. If you like something a little more hands-on, you can show off your skills with crafts, felting and archery. The Chemnitz Zoo Friends are also involved and are offering, among other things, a wheel of fortune where you have the chance to win great prizes. Zoo friends Chemnitz is already looking forward to the guests and the varied program.
Catering and news for the animals
Your physical well-being is also well taken care of. Various stands provide tasty food, including a fire department snack, which is sure to delight many. There is also news in the Wildgatter: The badgers have moved into a new facility where they can now be observed, while many young animal lovers will certainly be happy about the “Cheeky Badger” T-shirt, which is available in the merchandise area.
