Week full of events in Chemnitz: sport, culture and important conferences!

In the coming week, Chemnitz will once again be the stage for a variety of events covering both cultural and political topics. Mayor Sven Schulze will open the new Höhensonne sports area on Monday, October 20th. From 3 p.m. the guests gather at SV IKA Chemnitz e. V. at Max-Saupe-Straße 70 to be part of this celebratory opening. At the same time, the local council of Kleinolbersdorf-Altenhain meets in the Altenhain town hall, starting at 7 p.m.

Another highlight of the week will take place on Tuesday, October 21st, when Mayor Dagmar Ruscheinsky will give a welcoming speech at the 18th “Family Council” network meeting. The meeting begins at 9.30 a.m. in the Carlowitz Congress Center Chemnitz. At the same time, Mayor Ralph Burghart will speak at the academic ceremony at Chemnitz University of Technology at 4:30 p.m. Important meetings of the cultural advisory board and the youth welfare committee will also take place in the town hall from 4:30 p.m.

Wednesday, October 22nd also offers a variety of dates. At 1 p.m., Mayor Sven Schulze invites you to a press conference on the topic “European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 – Legacy Process”. This takes place in the press room of the town hall at Markt 1. A meeting of the Committee on Own Operations, Environment and Safety will also be held at 4 p.m.

A special event awaits the people of Chemnitz on Thursday, October 23rd, when Mayor Dagmar Ruscheinsky appears at the annual conference of the “European Route of Industrial Heritage” in the Industrial Museum at 9:30 a.m. At 10:30 a.m. there will be a press conference on the exhibition “A Mountain Parade – Twelve People from the Erzgebirge Mining Region” in the Schloßbergmuseum.

Celebrations and anniversaries

Friday, October 24th continues with a variety of dates. Mayor Knut Kunze will take part in an important committee in Dresden at 9 a.m. At 10 a.m., Mayor Sven Schulze will take part in the ceremonial farewell of the first MEDiC graduates in the opera house, followed by the opening of the Social Pediatric Center at the Chemnitz Clinic at 11 a.m., where medical officer Dr. Hildegard Geisler will give a welcoming speech. The day ends at 5 p.m. with the Saxon Sustainability Conference in the Carlowitz Congress Center.

On Saturday, October 25th, Mayor Dagmar Ruscheinsky will welcome the guests of the Central Germany Ophthalmological Colloquium, before the week ends on Sunday, October 26th with the awarding of the German Environmental Prize and the opening of the exhibition “A Mountain Parade - Twelve People from the Erzgebirge Mining Region”.
