Demolition of the Carol Bridge: Film nights remain steadfast!

The city of Dresden is currently facing an exciting challenge: Despite the ongoing demolition work on the Carol Bridge, the traditional film nights on the bank of the Elbe will take place this year. The work on the bridge carried out by the Hentschke construction construction company runs daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The temporal course of the construction work raises questions about compatibility with the film screenings that often start from the afternoon.

Project manager Daniel Windisch has already announced that the construction work will be ended earlier on days with children's ideas to avoid disorders. The first performance "The Little Mole" takes place on June 23, and a children's film is shown almost every day, apart from Tuesdays. This means that working hours at the bridge are often reduced by three and a half hours per performance. Windisch emphasizes that the construction company is in close exchange with the organizers of the film nights to promote urban culture and at the same time to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

film nights and demolition work in harmony

The film nights on the banks of the Elbe have established themselves in Dresden since 1991 and take place at the usual location on the royal banks. The organizer Philip Hartmanis from Pan GmbH recently confirmed that the event will take place as planned despite the construction work. "The search for alternative access and escape routes will currently have priority," says Hartmanis. After all, the security of visitors must have top priority.

A new escape concept is already in progress. Due to the demolition measures, however, the event area will offer less space - a challenge that the organizers have to face. Despite the uncertainties, the public interest is great. The pre -sale begins in November as usual, and the ticket request was already considerable, even in view of the construction work on the bridge.

The future orientation of the film nights

Mayor Stephan Kühn underlines close contact with the organizers and the need to revise the tender for the film nights for 2029. Such challenges are not new, because in recent years there have been difficulties in connection with the bridge. A Europe -wide tender for the film nights was initially suspended to enable a thorough revision of the plans.

The city has undertaken to demolish the still standing parts of the bridge by November. Holger Kalbe from the street and civil engineering office states that the demolition work should be completed in about four months. In response to reviews regarding the progress of the construction site, he explains that the work cannot be carried out around the clock and depend on the weather. In order to offer the visitors of the film nights a pleasant experience, it is no longer being worked on after 5 p.m.

So it is to be hoped that the charming film nights will be a complete success this year and the challenges about the Carol Bridge can be mastered. The Dresdner and their guests can look forward to a colorful program, which also includes musical highlights, as the well -known Kaisermania of Roland Kaiser. The anticipation for the film nights is therefore unbroken, even if the vandalism of the bridge in the past has always thrown some shadow on the event.
