Football at Dynamo Dresden continues despite summer temperatures and health hurdles. Niklas Hauptmann (29), the team's playmaker, decided to have an appendix operation after suffering from pain in the last second half of the season. This decision was made during the summer break, like Picture reported. He is now spending his time at the training camp in Windischgarsten, Upper Austria, where he has started his advanced training.
Hauptmann is currently still a long way from team training. He is only allowed to do easy runs and has already achieved initial success in cycling and running. Looking back on his decision to have the operation, he says he needed patience. “I'm doing well,” said Hauptmann in an interview with the Saxon. The kicker feels good and is not feeling any pain at the moment.
Comeback goals and team spirit
Although he doesn't want to commit to an exact comeback schedule, Hauptmann hopes to be on the pitch for the season opener against Greuther Fürth on the first weekend in August. He knows how important team spirit is to be successful in the second division. “We have to keep a stable core in our team,” he emphasizes. Based on the experiences from the cup games against Düsseldorf and Darmstadt last season, he is convinced that Dynamo Dresden can keep up in the new season.

Hauptmann understandably has an easy path back to the pitch, but he is determined and is optimistic about the developments since the operation.
