The exciting world of science will become an experience again on June 20, 2025 in Dresden when the 22nd Long Night of Sciences (LndW) opens the gates. With over 212 free events, there is something for everyone, regardless of whether young or old. An exciting evening that stands under the motto #Dienachtdieschlauermacht starts from 5 p.m. and lasts until midnight. The event takes place at Technical University of Dresden (TUD), where visitors can experience the fascinating diversity of research up close.
It is particularly nice that the implementation comprises more than 50 participants this year, including universities, research institutions, companies and scientific institutes. Thanks to the free use of bus and train (DVB AG) for guests with a #Lndwdd-guest recognition , access to the various stations in the urban area is particularly convenient.

In an impressive variety of program items, visitors can take part in live experiments, listen to exciting lectures and try interactive hands-on activities. At the hands -on stations, the participants are expressly invited to become active. This is an excellent opportunity to deal with current research topics and to breastfeed your own curiosity.
A highlight of the event is the Dresden Center for nanoanalysis (DCN), which gives insights into the fascinating world of the nanoscience in the Barkhausen building. From microscopic examinations of small objects such as ants to computer chips and pollen dust to the nuclear illustration - researchers and interested visitors can take their journey of discovery from 5 p.m. to midnight.
A look into the future
But not only in Dresden, the importance of research becomes increasingly clear. According to the Federal Statistical Office , the expenses for research and development in Germany have increased significantly in recent years.
