Women's power in engineering: Register now for test studies!

The Technical University of Dresden (TUD) opens up a comprehensive opportunity for young women to discover the world of engineering. Interested parties can now register for the "Trying" trial course, which takes place from August 4 to September 19, 2025. According to tud aims to inspire young women for engineering courses and the gender diversity in this underrepresented area Increase.

The program offers the participants the opportunity to get to know university life and try out various engineering courses. In addition, workshops on technologies of the future and the exchange with scientists are included. Excursions to regional companies provide an insight into everyday work, while a math preliminary course ensures optimal preparation for the course.

Diverse support for women in technology

The TUD currently has 20 basic engineering courses on offer. Dr. Sylvi Bianchin, head of the Diversity Management fact, emphasizes that the trial study not only represents motivation, but also offers support for young women in technical and scientific subjects. This is particularly important because women in MINT subjects (mathematics, computer science, natural science and technology) are still underrepresented.

according to Statista The proportion of women in MINT study courses in 2022/23 was around 32 percent, with the engineering sector has recorded significant increase in women. From 2013 to 2023 the number of registered women in engineering science rose by around 80 percent, from 106,084 to 190,779.

Enlightenment about MINT subjects

Despite this positive development, MINT subjects are traditionally dominated. The women's quota in MINT training professions stagnated at 8.9 percent, and there are still challenges that hinder the participation of women in these areas. Factors such as social characteristics and gender stereotypes play a crucial role here.

The TUD wants to increase interest in technical and scientific courses with initiatives such as "Trying" and create an environment in which women are encouraged to make career in these areas. Registration for this attractive program is possible via the TUD website.
