Kofi Amoako: The next football star for Dynamo Dresden!
There are always exciting changes in the world of football, and one of the current sensational moves is from Wolfsburg to Dresden: Kofi Amoako has announced his move to Dynamo Dresden. Thomas Brendel, SGD Sports Director, is convinced of the young talent and emphasizes that Amoako was able to demonstrate his great potential last season. The 20-year-old, born on May 6, 2005 in Hanover, played a central role in VfL Osnabrück's game in the last third division season, where he played as a six and played 2,219 minutes in 33 competitive games.
Amoako himself is enthusiastic about his move and emphasizes the unique atmosphere in the Rudolf Harbig Stadium. “I’m really looking forward to the coming season and would like to continue to develop personally,” he says. The talented midfielder also sees the opportunity to contribute to the successful second division season and bring stability into the game. Head coach Thomas Stamm notes that Amoako's athleticism will be particularly beneficial for the team.
From youth to professional career
Kofi Amoako began his football career at TSV Fortuna Sachsenross before moving to Hannover 96's youth team in 2016. In 2019 he joined the U17 team at VfL Wolfsburg, where he was soon promoted to captain of the U19 squad. His first professional contract followed in 2023, and in a striking moment in his career, he made his Bundesliga debut for the Wolves against Darmstadt on December 16, 2023. Amoako has also already gained experience internationally: He played for the DFB's U17, U18 and U19 national teams and made his debut for the Germany U20 team on March 21, 2025.
His time at VfL Wolfsburg is not only present on the pitch. The team is currently also active in other areas. There will be a home game against TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday, parallel to the Wolfsburg Schützenfest. This creates a tense parking situation; Parking spaces are limited and traveling by public transport is recommended. Wolfsburg also aims to offer young talents a platform, as the DFB talent development program shows.
Talent promotion nationwide
The DFB talent development program is an important element of the German football landscape that has set itself the task of systematically promoting talent. With 339 bases in all regions of Germany, around 14,000 talented players are discovered and supported in their development every year. The base trainers provide individual support and offer the players additional training to further develop their skills. This helps to expand the pool of strong, technically skilled and creative players - a real benefit for German football.
Kofi Amoako's move to Dynamo Dresden is another example of the positive career progression of a talent who now has the opportunity to prove himself in the 2nd Bundesliga and perhaps soon celebrate further successes.
