Alstom stops production: cheerful view in the crisis! What does that mean for Leipzig?

Görlitz, Deutschland - The future of Heitlichenblick, the Leipzig tram manufacturer, is currently on the brink. On July 17, 2025, Alstom set the production of car boxes for a cheerful view. The reason for this as the LVZ reports, not fulfilled central contractual components on the part of the company, which is also in insolvency proceedings.

Heiterblick has struggled with economic difficulties in the past few months. The setback from the production stop is serious because Alstom is one of the central suppliers. The Leipzig Verkehrsbetriebe (LVB) have already awarded orders for new trams to Heuertenblick, so that the development and delivery are urgently needed. Overall, Heitersblick plans to deliver 25 XXL tracks and possibly up to 130 other trams. But whether the delivery will take place as planned after Alstom has only handed over three car boxes this year.

insolvency proceedings opened

A spokesman for Heitlicht explained that one would continue to adhere to bankruptcy rights and that the production and work on the vehicles would continue. Nevertheless, the Leipzig District Court opened the insolvency proceedings at the beginning of the month, which also burdens the situation. This is not an isolated case, because the difficulties result from a combination of factors: corona pandemic, the effects of the Ukraine war and drastic price increases, especially for important raw materials.

as the MDR , a renovation plan was confirmed by the district court, and the company has been carried out on its own. Jauberblick currently has around 250 employees and is known as a special provider for city and trams. The bankruptcy also seems to be an opportunity for a renovation, and the Saxon Ministry of Economic Affairs supports the company in the search for new investors.

outlook for the future

Wherever the journey goes for a cheerful view is questionable. Prime Minister Kretschmer expressed his doubts as to whether Görlitz will receive his trams from Heitenblick. However, the State Chancellery emphasized that the procurement of the trams is not endangered and that it will continue to be working on a solution. It remains to be seen how the talks with the employment agency develop about temporary short -time work and whether it is possible to win potential investors.

The industrial sector is not easy due to the ongoing crises. The Schultze Braun provides information about a strong increase in bankruptcies last year, which makes the current situation of cheerful views in the context of a difficult economic situation. The challenges that companies face are diverse and are further reinforced by global developments. Jauberblick hopes to be able to tear the rudder around and to supply the cities with modern trams.
