Drugs found at border control: Czechs caught with marijuana!
It was a busy Thursday in Zittau when the federal police took action on Friedensstrasse. During a routine border check, a Czech car was noticed in which a 43-year-old Czech woman, two men aged 32 and 35 and a child were traveling. The noticeable smell of marijuana raised suspicions that something was up. How Sächsische.de reported, the officials should be right.
Upon closer examination, the 32-year-old man handed over 10.7 grams of marijuana in a clip bag, while the 35-year-old colleague presented an inconspicuous surprise in the form of a surprise egg with 0.60 grams of marijuana. Both men now faced legal consequences because the drugs were seized and reports were filed. Customs will take the next steps.
Review of traffic developments
The most common causes? Inappropriate speed, right-of-way violations and insufficient safety distance. Cars were the main culprits at 61% of accidents resulting in personal injuries, followed by cyclists and motorized two-wheelers. There was also a worrying increase of 19% in motorized motorcycle drivers and 20.8% in bus passengers. Police reports illustrate the challenges that road safety faces.
The unbroken trend of traffic accidents
Another point of concern is the increase in accidents under the influence of drugs. These were recorded in 2024 with 377 accidents (+4.4%), showing that the problem must be taken seriously. Even though the number of accidents under the influence of alcohol has decreased, the trend for other intoxicants is accelerating.
