Cycling highlight: Around the Landeskrone” starts in Görlitz!

Next Sunday, June 29, 2025, Görlitz will once again be transformed into the epicenter of cycling, because the traditional cycling classic “Around the Landeskrone” is just around the corner. Judging by the starting schedule, it could be a day full of cycling feeling! The event will take place from Görlitz Postal Sports Club organized and offers an exciting circuit of 17.3 kilometers, which runs along the promenade road at the “Burghof”.

Participants can look forward to a scenic route that leads along Friedersdorfer Straße, Kunnerwitz, Jauernick, Buschbach, Friedersdorf, Pfaffendorf, Schlauroth, Grenzweg and Grundstraße. To ensure the safety of racing enthusiasts, the police will be on site with radio cars, motorcycles and marshals to protect both spectators and drivers.

The racing action in detail

Race day starts early, with the first competitions starting between 9:30 and 9:38 a.m. The Masters 3 race will consist of five laps of up to 86.5 kilometers and the Masters 4 race will consist of three laps of 51.9 kilometers. The longest race of the day is for the Masters 2 category, which starts at 12.15 p.m. and covers a distance of 121.1 kilometers. Particularly noteworthy is the fat tire race for children in the age groups 6-7, 8-10 and 11-12 years, which starts at 9:38 a.m. Helmets are mandatory here, while racing bikes are not allowed for the youngest athletes - normal bikes with tires at least 30 mm wide are required.

From 12:27 p.m. it will be faster for the everyman races, which will be held in different classifications. Men up to 40 years old, over 40 years old and over 50 years old compete against each other. The women also make their big appearance, starting at 12.29 p.m. without age differentiation.

Important information for participants

Registration for all cycling enthusiasts is possible up to one hour before the respective start at the race office at Promenadenstrasse 60. The participation fee is 20 euros, higher late registration fees of 20 euros must be paid. Minors also need confirmation of participation from their parents. The Görlitz cycling classic is part of the popular Lausitz Cup series, which includes a total of ten competitions.

For anyone who would like to get actively involved, the Görlitz Post Sports Club is also looking for active helpers for set-up and dismantling as well as in the start-finish area.
