Wonderful farewell: Headmistress Hannig is retiring!

Gabriela Hannig, the long-time headmistress of the Friedrich Froboeß primary school in Weißwasser, beat her last hour after over 13 years. The moving farewell took place on Friday morning and was framed by a warm drum concert by the band "Blechlawine" from Dresden. This surprising event was lovingly organized by Hannig's daughters Kati and Kerstin, the latter himself enthusiastic about the concert. Despite the joy of the new phase of life that lies in front of her, it was not easy for the passionate educator to say goodbye to her school and the students.

A total of around 115 students received their certificates that day, a moment that not only conjured up a glimmer of melancholy in the heart not only the students, but also the outgoing headmistress. Before her time in Weißwasser, Hannig was deputy head of the August Moritz Böttger elementary school in Görlitz. There and in their current position, the teaching of sport, German, mathematics and music was not only their profession, but their calling.

commitment for students with special needs

A central concern of Hannig was the promotion of students with reading spelling weakness (LRS). It initiated targeted diagnostics and support measures to help these children overcome their difficulties. According to information from the German school portals is essential because pupils with reading-rapid disorder need special support. The Conference of Ministers of Culture already passed principles in 2003 on their promotion, which were to be implemented in schools. Aids such as dictation software and reading programs offer learners additional support to meet lessons with more self-confidence.

Responsibility to promote affected children early and effectively is strengthened, among other things, by the pedagogical actions of the teachers. These are called up to create individual funding offers and, if in doubt, to take advantage of the school psychological service in order to support affected students and their families. According to the NRW Ministry of School, performance evaluation and note protection are important instruments to ensure that the services of students are assessed equally with LRS.

A new phase of life begins

Gabriele Hannig, who wants to spend more time with her grandchildren in the future, looks forward to a new chapter. There is a third grandchild ahead, which is to be born in November. The family has already planned a vacation together in Denmark in autumn - an opportunity to enjoy the valuable time together. In addition, the outgoing headmistress is also a passionate gardener who wants to spend her free time in nature.

Overall, Hannig leaves a large gap at the Friedrich Froboeß primary school, especially in the design of the school garden and in the numerous activities that she organized for her students, be it when swimming or dance appearances. Her commitment is valued by students, parents and teacher colleagues alike and remains alive in the heart of the school community, while the school is preparing for new challenges.
