On Saturday, a 22-year-old was found lying on the tracks at Schönefeld train station. The young man appeared to be sleeping peacefully when the federal police were alerted. How lvz.de Reportedly, the police were notified at around 5:30 p.m. Fortunately, train traffic remained undisturbed as there are no passenger trains on this section.
A routine check of the sleeping man's personal details ultimately led to a surprise: there was an arrest warrant against him. This was issued because of his failure to appear at a hearing for grievous bodily harm, which was to take place before the Eilenburg District Court. The 22-year-old was then taken to the Leipzig Correctional Facility.
Increased police presence at train stations
Such incidents show how important the work of the federal police is. There was another major search at Leipzig Central Station in particular. As part of this manhunt, a 36-year-old man, who was strongly suspected of bodily harm, and a 42-year-old woman were arrested. Both people were taken to the correctional facility.
