Leipzig, Deutschland - The Leipzig-Halle Airport is heavily frequented and is very popular in the holiday season. But Leipzig Airport does not remain idle. The new airline SunExpress started in May with flights to Varna and Burgas in Bulgaria. These connections remain in winter, as well as the connection to Bucharest, Romania. Interestingly, the flights to Tirana were only introduced on September 30, 2024, after an introductory phase with an appealing utilization of almost 90 percent in October 2024. In the course of time, however, the utilization fell to 62.2 percent in January 2025, which probably influenced the decision for the break. However, Wizzair plans to fly to Tirana three times a week from the 2026 summer flight schedule, which gives hope to the travelers in the region, such as mz.de known.
